Rl5A is a synthetic molecule that inhibits the function of cellular oncogenic protein kinase and receptor tyrosine kinase. It has been shown to have therapeutic potential in the treatment of cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune disorders. Rl5A is a selective inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) replication and is licensed for use as an antiviral agent in Japan. Rl5A also inhibits the growth of cells infected with influenza A virus and herpes simplex virus type-2, which suggests that this agent may be useful for controlling or preventing viral infections.
