3-Methoxybenzyl-octadecadienamide is a synthetic, non-peptide, selective activator of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ). The compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human breast cancer cells and reduce the incidence of mammary tumor in mice. 3-Methoxybenzyl-octadecadienamide activates PPARγ by binding to its ligand binding domain. This activation induces the expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism and cellular differentiation. 3-Methoxybenzyl-octadecadienamide can be used as a research tool for studying the role of PPARγ in cell biology and for elucidating mechanisms of PPARγ action.
