1-[4-(Ethylsulfonyl)phenyl]methanamine is a molecule that can be used as a cancer therapeutic. It has been shown to increase the expression of retinoic acid-related transcription factors, which in turn upregulates the expression of genes involved in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. 1-[4-(Ethylsulfonyl)phenyl]methanamine has immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activities, which may be due to its ability to induce Th17 cells. The molecule binds to amine moieties on proteins, including transcription factors and enzymes. This binding leads to inhibition of transcriptional activity and enzyme activity, respectively.
