It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on these neurons, leading to a decrease in their activity. This compound is a member of the fatty acid ester class of pheromones and has been found to be effective against lepidoptera. (Z)-11-Hexadecen-1-ol acetate has also been found to be synthesized by the moth species Pyralidae and Xenopus Oocytes and can be found in Indian pyralidae. This chemical was first identified from an analysis of the headspace of a female moth. The chemical was then synthesized and analyzed using spectrometry analyses and gel chromatography.
