Lodoxamide diethyl ester-5N2,d2 is an antihistamine that belongs to the group of quinolones. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to lodoxamide, its active form. Lodoxamide diethyl ester-5N2,d2 has been shown to reduce the secretion of chloride and water in the eye. It also inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit hydrogenation reaction and organic solvent production.
