Descripción:Acetochlor is a herbicide that belongs to the class of chloroacetanilides. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase in plants. Acetochlor also inhibits microbial growth, but its mechanism of action is not known. The compound has been shown to be toxic to aquatic organisms and may have significant cytotoxicity in mammalian cell cultures. Acetochlor has been found to be an effective disinfectant for wastewater treatment and has been used in polymerase chain reactions (PCR). Acetochlor is also used as a herbicide for control of weeds and grasses.
