The matrix effect can be mitigated by using an appropriate solvent such as chloroform or dichloromethane. A number of modifications have been made to increase the stability, including modification at the 3-position with an alkyl group, which produces a bifunctional molecule with two amines. This molecule can catalyze reactions involving homoallylamines.
