2,3-Dihydrosciadopitysin is a natural product that belongs to the group of macrophyllus. It has been shown to have strong anti-inflammatory properties in vitro and in vivo. 2,3-Dihydrosciadopitysin has been shown to inhibit the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase or lipoxygenase activity. This compound also inhibits the synthesis of arachidonic acid, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. 2,3-Dihydrosciadopitysin also has antioxidant properties and protects cells from oxidative damage by scavenging free radicals and quenching reactive oxygen species (ROS).
