1-Bromo-4-(1,2,2-triphenylethenyl)benzene is a fluorescent probe that has been used to detect the presence of phosphate groups in human serum. It reacts with phosphatase enzymes to produce a fluorescent product and can be used for detection sensitivity. The acid detection properties of 1-Bromo-4-(1,2,2-triphenylethenyl)benzene have also been demonstrated by its ability to detect the presence of an acid. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of a covalent bond between 1-Bromo-4-(1,2,2-triphenylethenyl)benzene and the enzyme phosphatase.
