1-Cyclopentene-1-carbonyl chloride (1CPC) is a synthetic, heterocyclic compound that is used as a sealant and adhesive in the biomedical field. 1CPC has been shown to have antiadhesive properties to various tissues, including skin, cartilage, and fascia. This compound is also used as an alkyne for polymerization reactions. 1CPC reacts with amines at high temperatures to form haloalkyl compounds. This reaction can be used to synthesize nitro derivatives of 1-cyclopentene-1-carbonyl chloride, which are useful for the synthesis of 6-membered heterocyclic rings. 1CPC can also be converted into cycloalkenyl compounds by reacting it with an alkenyl group.
