It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of mandibular gland and formicidae activity. 5-Chloro-2,3-dimethylpyrazine has also been shown to have chromatographic properties and to produce spectra that are different from other methyl pyrazines. 5-Chloro-2,3-dimethylpyrazine may be a positional isomer of 2,5-dimethylpyrazine, but this has not yet been confirmed.
