• Descripción: (R)-1-Methoxy-3-phenylpropan-2-amine is a chiral, enantioselective, alkylation agent for the preparation of carbonate and methoxy derivatives. It reacts with aromatic amines in the presence of base to form chiral carbamate ester products. The methoxy group is readily displaced by nucleophiles such as hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide yielding the corresponding carboxylic acid or alcohol respectively. Preparative methods for this compound include reacting benzene with liquid ammonia at -78 °C followed by removal of the solvent under vacuum to yield (R)-1-methoxy-3-phenylpropan-2-amine hydrochloride salt.
