3-Methylfuran-2-carboxamide is a carboxylic acid derivative that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and other organic compounds. 3-Methylfuran-2-carboxamide can be used to form amides, esters, and carbamates by reacting with ammonia or an amine. It also has bidentate character and can react with two molecules of carboxylic acid to form the corresponding ester or amidate. 3-Methylfuran-2-carboxamide is medicinally active and may be useful as an analgesic or antipyretic agent. It also has antiinflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
