(3R)-5,7-Dihydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4'-hydroxybenzyl)chroman-4-one is a chemical compound with antiviral properties. It inhibits the replication of various viruses such as hepatitis C virus and HIV by inhibiting the protein polymerase. (3R)-5,7-Dihydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4'-hydroxybenzyl)chroman-4-one also inhibits the replication of influenza A virus in cell culture and has an inhibitory effect on dna synthesis. The antiviral activity is due to its ability to inhibit viral replication at the level of transcription and translation, which leads to lower levels of intracellular viral particles.
