(1S,4R)-4-Aminocyclopent-2-ene-1-carboxylic acid is a chiral stereospecific molecule. It can be synthesized by enzymatic methods using organic butanoic acid as a starting material. This method has been shown to be effective for the synthesis of taxol, an anticancer drug that belongs to the class of taxanes. The synthetic technique was also used to produce (1R,2R)-2-(3-aminopropyl)cyclopentane carboxylic acid, which showed promising antidiabetic and antibacterial properties in animal models.
