Tert butyl 3-cyclopropyl-3-oxopropanoate inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol in the cell membrane by blocking its conversion to squalene. This prevents the formation of a sterol nucleus, which is required for the synthesis of dolichols and other important cell components.
