It is an active form of the drug trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine, which is a tricyclic compound with potent anti-neoplastic activity. 1-((4-Chlorophenyl)sulfonyl)-4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazine has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. It also inhibits the growth of neoplasms, including those that are resistant to other drugs such as c1-c3 alkoxybenzenesulfonamide and c1-c3 alkoxyaminopyrine.
