Descripción:W146 is a small molecule inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) that has been shown to be neuroprotective in an animal model of cerebral ischemia. It attenuated neuronal death and reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines after transient focal cerebral ischemia. W146 binds to the active site of MMP-9, preventing it from cleaving a critical protein substrate, which prevents the activation of downstream signaling pathways. This drug also inhibits transcriptional activity and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). W146 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in granulosa cells by inhibiting the production of cytokines and chemokines, such as IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNFα, and MCP-1.
