• Descripción: Ethyl 2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-3-carboxylate is a salicylaldehyde that is synthesized by the cyclooxygenase pathway. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is used as an active ingredient in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase, which is one of the enzymes that converts arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. This drug also inhibits thromboxane A2 synthesis and platelet aggregation, preventing blood clotting. Ethyl 2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-3-carboxylate is metabolized by acylation or benzoylation reactions with the enzyme benzofuran synthase. The efficiency of this drug can be optimized by using a trifluoromethanesulfonate catalyst.
