6-(2,3-Dichlorophenyl)-N4-methyl-2,4-pyrimidinediamine is a ligand that emits light when it is exposed to UV light. The emission of light can be synchronized with a stroboscopic apparatus by using an alternating current. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of viruses such as HIV, influenza A virus, and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1). This compound binds to the conformational epitopes on the outer envelope protein of these viruses. 6-(2,3-Dichlorophenyl)-N4-methyl-2,4-pyrimidinediamine has been shown to bind to antibodies in animals and trigger an antibody response.
