BPH715 is a six-membered heterocycle that inhibits the prenylation of proteins, and is a potential drug target for cancer. BPH715 inhibits the farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) synthase enzyme, which converts farnesyl pyrophosphate to FPP, and prevents the addition of the 15-carbon farnesyl tail onto Ras proteins. This inhibition leads to decreased activation of Ras proteins, which are implicated in cancer development. BPH715 has also been shown to have immunomodulatory effects. It has anticancer activity by targeting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and epidermal growth factor (EGF), as well as inhibiting cellular proliferation and inducing apoptosis in tumor cells.
