Ethyl 3-(3-aminophenyl)propanoate is a molecule that can be used as an alkylation cross-linking agent in immobilized systems. It reacts with ethyl decanoate to form a stable ester and can also be used to modify lipase and coumarin derivatives. Ethyl 3-(3-aminophenyl)propanoate has minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 0.6 μg/mL against lipase and 1 μg/mL against the coumarin derivative, which is indicative of its inhibitory effect on the enzyme. The electrophilicity of this molecule makes it an effective cross-linking agent for immobilized systems because it reacts with electron-deficient molecules such as ethyl decanoate.
