Molybdenum(V) chloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of molybdenum compounds. It is used as an oxidation catalyst for hydrochloric acid, which helps in the production of nitrogen fertilizers. Molybdenum(V) chloride has been shown to possess high resistance against water vapor and other oxidizing agents such as air and chlorine dioxide. Molybdenum(V) chloride also has been shown to be a good catalyst for cationic polymerization reactions.
