Información del producto
- 1-Methyl-8-(hydroxymethyl)naphthalene
- 8-Methyl-1-naphthalenemethanol
8-Methylnaphthalen-1-yl)methanol is a fluorescent compound with a molecular formula of C14H12N2O. It is produced by the reaction of 8-methylnaphthalen-1-yl acetic acid with methanol in the presence of an acid catalyst. The compound has been used as an indicator for the detection of bacteria, and has been found to exhibit fluorescence at wavelengths between 400 and 450 nm. 8-Methylnaphthalen-1-yl)methanol can be oxidized to form oxidation products such as 2,6,8 methylene naphthalene. This substance is able to bind to bacterial proteins and form an anhydride bond that inhibits protein synthesis.
