Descripción:Prednisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid. Prednisolone is used to treat inflammatory conditions such as asthma, arthritis, lupus erythematosus, and psoriasis. It also has anabolic effects in the body and can be used to treat muscle wasting from HIV/AIDS or cancer. Prednisolone binds to the glucocorticoid receptor in the cytoplasm of cells and causes gene transcription that leads to the production of proteins involved in inflammation and immunity. These proteins include those involved in mediating inflammation like prostaglandins, leukotrienes, histamine, and cytokines.
