Ent-17-hydroxykaur-15-en-19-oic acid is a diterpene that has antioxidant effects. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells and inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species in cordata, carcinoma hepG2 cells. This compound also has antibacterial activity and inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins. Ent-17-hydroxykaur-15-en-19 oic acid may be used to prevent or treat cancer by inhibiting cellular proliferation or by inducing apoptosis. The structure of this compound was confirmed using 13C NMR spectroscopy, which showed that it contains two asymmetric carbon atoms. This compound is found in plants sources such as Koreanum, which is a plant from East Asia that grows on dry slopes, rocky hillsides, and cliffs.
