cis-3-Hexenyl Isovalerate is a natural product that belongs to the group of esters. It has been shown to have antibacterial, antifungal, and insecticidal activities. cis-3-Hexenyl Isovalerate has been found to be mediated by an ion channel in the cell membrane, which leads to depolarization and increased release of protons. This causes an influx of calcium ions which triggers a cascade of events leading to cell death. cis-3-Hexenyl Isovalerate is also shown to have antiinflammatory properties via suppression of prostaglandin synthesis.
