The isomers of this compound have been synthesized and diffraction experiments have shown that it has a cyclic structure. Compounds similar to 2-Ethoxy-nicotinic acid include malonate, which has two carboxylate groups. This molecule also reacts with hydrogen gas at high temperatures to produce hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide.
