It has been shown to inhibit amitraz and cymiazole, which are pesticides that are used for the control of bees and mites. N-(2,4-Dimethylphenyl)formamide can be prepared by reacting 2,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde with formic acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The inhibition activity of this compound may be due to its ability to act as a buffer in the assay mixture or to alter the pH of the solution. This chemical has also been shown to affect Ca2+ concentration in extracellular fluid and is active against Sprague-Dawley rats.
