2-(Dimethylamino)acetyl chloride hydrochloride (DMAC) is a potent nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist. It has been shown to inhibit the inflammatory response in vitro and in vivo. DMAC also has estrogen receptor modulating activity, which may be due to its ability to bind to the estrogen receptor with high affinity. DMAC has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects as well as cancer chemopreventive effects. This drug inhibits the production of cytokines and growth factors that are associated with inflammation and tumorigenesis, respectively.
