It is isolated from the plant genus Alpinia, which includes plants like A. amboinensis, A. roxburghii and A. curtisii. Albrassitriol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in vitro and can be used as a reference material for HPLC standards, analytical standards and reference materials. Albrassitriol has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in mouse macrophage cells by preventing the transcriptional activation of NF-κB.
