The ligand is a research tool to study the activation of receptors, ion channels and other proteins. The binding site is specific for the receptor and can be used to inhibit the receptor. It has been shown that this ligon binds to potassium channels in neuronal cells, preventing cell depolarization and transmission of signals from one cell to another. This ligand also binds to voltage-gated sodium channels in muscle cells, preventing an action potential and muscle contraction. This ligand can be used for pharmacological studies on peptides, proteins and other biological molecules.
