Bisandrographolide is a natural product that has been shown to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and suppresses the expression of pro-inflammatory genes by binding to transcriptional regulators. Bisandrographolide also binds to bacterial histone deacetylases and prevents their acetylation, thereby inhibiting transcriptional activation. This compound has been shown to be effective against human pathogens, such as Escherichia coli, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Helicobacter pylori, and Candida albicans. Bisandrographolide inhibits cyclase activity in bronchial epithelial cells and can be used for the treatment of asthma.
