4-Chloro-5-nitropyrimidin-2-amine is a chemical compound that has been used as a starting material in the synthesis of other compounds. It can also be produced by n-dealkylation of 4,5-dimethoxybenzyl chloride. 4-Chloro-5-nitropyrimidin-2-amine is an efficient reagent to form a variety of chlorides and reacts with nucleophiles to form substituted pyrimidines. One such use is in the production of 1,3,4,6,7,8,-hexahydro-[1]benzothiopyrano[3,4]pyrido[1,2a]pyrimidine derivatives.
