4-(Benzyloxy)-2-fluorobenzonitrile is a liquid crystal monomer that is used to make polymers. It has a transition temperature of -7 °C and the crystals are orthorhombic, with space group Cc. 4-(Benzyloxy)-2-fluorobenzonitrile is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and chloroform. The molecule consists of two benzene rings connected by a methylene chain and a fluoro group. The monomers are linked by oxetane bridges. This compound has three dihedral angles, which are about 120° for the C1-C4 bond, about 130° for the C2-C5 bond and about 150° for the C3-C6 bond.
