L 888607 is a selective agonist of CRTH2, which is expressed in the nasal passages and lungs. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2). L 888607 also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13. The clinical use of L 888607 for treatment of asthma is still under investigation.
