Echinophyllin C is a diterpene found in the leaves of Callicarpa macrophylla. It is an iridoid glycoside with a clerodane skeleton. Echinophyllin C has been shown to have both anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties in animal studies. It has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The methyl ester of echinophyllin C has been synthesized and its spectroscopic data are reported.
