Tenatoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that prevents the final step in gastric acid production by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme. This drug has been shown to be effective in reducing gastric pH and have an inhibitory effect on the absorption of drugs in acidic environments. Tenatoprazole's chemical structure makes it labile, which may lead to a decrease in effectiveness if taken with other medicines that activate or deactivate it. Tenatoprazole is also an optical sensor, which can be used to measure hydrochloric acid concentration-time curves.
