Información del producto
1-Cyano-4-methylnaphthalene is a byproduct of the acrylonitrile production process. It is chemically an isomer of 1-cyanonaphthalene and has been detected in wastewater from acrylonitrile production plants. 1-Cyano-4-methylnaphthalene can be used as an alternative to benzidine, which is carcinogenic, for the detection of nitroaromatic compounds. The mechanism of adsorption on activated carbon has been studied and shown to be due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding and hydrogen bonding interactions. The efficiency of adsorption on activated carbon depends on the type of compound, with more polar compounds being more easily adsorbed. Reduction products are formed via protonation or allylation reactions that lead to 1-cyanonaphthalene and allyl alcohol.
