Naphazoline Related Compound A is a nitrate ammonium salt that contains a central oxygen atom. It can be recovered by crystallization from the reaction of hydrogen tartrate with sodium nitrate. FTIR spectroscopy shows that the compound has the gemini conformation, and this conformation is optimized by hydrogen bonding to oxygen atoms. Naphazoline Related Compound A has been shown to have an interaction with acidic particles and can also be used as a functional theory for studying the conformation of organic molecules.
