2-Aminoimidazole sulfate is a diazonium salt that is used as a contrast agent in radiological imaging. It has been shown to have potent antagonistic effects on the growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase. 2-Aminoimidazole sulfate can be administered orally or intravenously and is stable at pH values of 4.5 to 8. It is also used as an anticholinesterase agent, which prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine by inhibiting cholinesterases in the body.
