3-Methyl-6-phenyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazin-5-one (3MPT) is a metabolite of the herbicide atrazine. It is formed by the deamination of 3-methyladenine and can be found in the ovaries, tissues, and blood of mammals. The pH value and sodium carbonate concentration are the main factors that affect the absorption rate constant of 3MPT.
3MPT is an intermediate in the metabolism of atrazine to its major metabolite, 6-chloro-2-(diethylamino)-5-[(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) methyl]-4H-[1,2,4]triazin-- 5(4H)-one (DEAM). This reaction scheme shows how 3MPT is formed from 3-methyladenine and how it is converted to DEAM.
