Furomollugin is a potent inhibitor of inflammation and oxidative stress. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme that produces melanin, which is involved in the process of skin pigmentation. Furomollugin also inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-8, and MCP-1. Furomollugin is a synthetic compound made from a mixture of furanocoumarins and coumarins. Furomollugin has potent inhibitory effects against Staphylococcus strains, including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA).
