Descripción:3-(Thiophen-2-yl)piperazin-2-one (TPZ) is a chemical compound with a molecular weight of 248.37 g/mol. TPZ has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential, which leads to the release of cytochrome c and ATP production inhibition in microglia cells. TPZ is also an acetylcholine receptor agonist that binds to the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. TPZ has been shown to have dose-dependent effects on diabetic patients, suggesting its clinical relevance for metabolic disorders like diabetes mellitus type 2 and obesity. TPZ may be used as an inhibitor in fatty acid synthesis, although it is not a specific enzyme inhibitor for any particular enzyme.
