Descripción:7-(Methylsulfanyl)heptanoic acid is an alkaloid that is found in the bark and leaves of the tree Dictyocarpus heptacarpus. It is a racemic mixture of diptocarpiline and diptocarpidine. This alkaloid has shown to have sulfide and diptocarpidine as its main constituents. 7-(Methylsulfanyl)heptanoic acid has been shown to be effective against tuberculosis, but it does not show antimicrobial activities against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes.
