Nyasicol is a natural product that has been identified as a chemical constituent of the roots of Nyasa erythrina. It has been shown to have pharmacological activity in vitro, and may be used to treat cancer and other diseases. Nyasicol is a skeleton that has been shown to inhibit glucose uptake in cells by binding to glucosides and nyasicol. Nyasicol also binds to norlignans, which are metabolites of the p450 cytochrome system. The research on this compound is still in its early stages, but it has potential for use as an anti-cancer agent.
