SU5214 is a potent inhibitor of the receptor-2 tyrosine kinase, which is involved in regulating the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in both animal models and human patients with advanced solid tumors. SU5214 also inhibits the activity of many other protein kinases, including those involved in vascular endothelial cell growth and angiogenesis. The compound has also been shown to affect blood vessel formation by inhibiting angiogenesis, thereby reducing tumor size.
