Cortistatin-14 is a cyclic peptide that is structurally related to somatostatin, a hormone found in the brain. Cortistatin-14 has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and to have anti-inflammatory effects. It also has physiological effects on locomotor activity, body mass index, and hippocampal formation in vivo. Cortistatin-14 can be used as an adjunct therapy for autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn's disease.
