This inhibition is thought to be due to its ability to bind with the hydroxyl group on the enzyme's active site. 4-(4-Bromo-phenyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-thiazole -5 carboxylic acid ethyl ester also inhibits protein synthesis by binding with the carboxy group on the enzyme's active site. The drug also has been shown to have antihepatitis properties by inhibiting hepatic p450 enzymes that are responsible for hydroxylating xenobiotics
