PDE5 inhibitor 42 is a synthetic drug that has been shown to increase intracellular cAMP levels in a concentration-dependent manner. This drug is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) in penile tissue. PDE5 inhibitor 42 binds to and inhibits PDE5, which prevents the breakdown of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and increases intracellular cAMP levels. This agent has been shown to be effective in animal models of erectile dysfunction.
